So, Sandy and I decided to support a charity and bid on an auction for a 1 week holiday in Malta. Judging by the photos our bid was the highest.

During the week we were in Malta the wind did not stop blowing and certainly spoiled what could have been a great week in the sun.

With the weather being "nasty" we decided to travel the island and go and look at all the touristy places of interest. Malta has such a rich history that dates back to 4000 BC!!

The first surprise was the old yellow busses on the island. I am sure some of them date back from the BC era (ha ha). Most of them have been restored and are in mint condition.

The Catacombs (from the year 400 AC) was amazing (see photos) The cathedrals (and every town has one) are in absolute stunning condition and worth a visit.

Golden bay - the only sandy beach on the island even had an internet cafe right on the beach.

Overall the roads and most of the remote villages remind me of Maputo and the roads are in worse condition than those in Mozambique.
